The North Carolina Gamma Chapter of Phi Delta Theta, founded in 1929 and currently at 110 members, is over twice the size of the campus-wide average, and its members are involved in every facet of the Davidson College community. Brothers serve in leadership positions of organizations such as the Microfinance Club, the Sportsmen's Society, FCA, and the student-led worship group. On an individual level, its members are representing Phi Delta Theta in outstanding achievements on the football field, the baseball diamond, the track, the swimming pool, and the basketball court.
Phi Delta Theta, as a chapter, has not chosen a specific area in which to specialize -- they strive to excel in everything they do. Whether they are raising money for military families, leading the discussion of sexual misconduct on campus, recruiting new members, or competing on the athletic field, they embody the principles of friendship, sound learning, and moral rectitude that govern Phi Delta Theta nationally.
Highlights and Achievements:
-- Raised over $25,000 in 2014-2015 for military veterans and their families through two semester-long philanthropy projects -- Phis For GI's and Weights for Warriors.
-- Since partnering with "Support US Armed Forces" in 2012, Phi Delta Theta has raised nearly $50,000 to support them in their efforts to provide care packages, aid, and transition programs for active duty military personnel, veterans, and their families.
-- Honored with the Kansas City trophy in 2012 for being the best chapter of Phi Delta Theta at a small college nationally.
