Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated was founded in Bloomington, Indiana in 1911. Since its founding the fraternity has stood by its purpose of Achievement in every field of human endeavor. In its over 100 years of existence, the fraternity has grown into an international organization with over 700 chapters in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and South Africa amongst others. The colors of Kappa Alpha Psi are Krimson and Kreme.
The Pi Mu chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated came to Davidson College on September 28, 2008. The brothers of the Pi Mu chapter commit themselves to various service events and projects and support the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Charlotte, the ADA Jenkins Center, as well as the Safe Alliance Domestic Violence Shelter in Charlotte. Currently, the chapter is refocusing its community service efforts on mentoring and supporting high school students in the Charlotte area.
In 2015, the Pi Mu chapter was awarded the Patterson Court Outstanding Service to the Community, and Outstanding Inter-Patterson Court Partnership. Their annual events include New Member Presentation, Nimble Nupes Yoga session, Kappa Week, the Krimson and Kreme Ball, and the So You Think You Can Shimmy?! stroll competition.
